SM Freshman win in Engineering Competition! 10 of our 9th graders competed against SBHS in an engineering contest to build the best self-propelled vehicle and won first place. Click on the title to see the names of the students and details of the competition |

Congratulations SM Earth Club! Earth Club will receive $5,000 from the Alliance for Climate Education to fund 2 filtered water bottle refill stations at SMHS. They also earned the national grand prize of $5,000 and 4 laptops from dosomething.org for the "Increase your green" campaign. The club will donate one of the laptops to the SM special education department for their important role in this effort. |

Phreaner Writing Awards Winners We awarded many outstanding Royal Writers at the 14th Annual Phreaner Writing Contest. Over $400 and many honorable awards were given out. Scholarship Winners Announced!
Sonia Holzman received the Edward Spaulding Award, the highest award possible from the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara for community service. She will receive $3,000 in scholarship money and $500 goes to the non-profit organization of her choice. Congratulations to the SMHS Advanced Women's Choir, "Enchante" for sweeping the awards at the Heritage Music Festival The girls received three awards and trophies. With a top score of 97, they earned the Gold Award in their division. They were recognized as Outstanding Choral Group over the other choral divisions; show choir, concert choir, chamber choir and women's choir. The 34 girls also received a special award not always presented at festival, the Adjudicator's Award, the only one presented at the festival which included high school concert bands, marching bands, jazz bands,orchestras and choirs. San Marcos was well represented,congratulations! |
