National Honors Society
Attention National Honor Society Members and Prospective Members. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors who have a 3.75 gpa are eligible to join the San Marcos Chapter of the National Honor Society. New members should bring a copy of their grade report, a completed application, and five dollars annual dues this week to Mr. Hobbs in room D-5. (Applications can be downloaded from the SM Webpage - go to "academics" to find the NHS info). Returning members just need to turn in their grades and dues. |

SM student chosen for US National Baseball team
San Marcos High School Senior Ghazaleh Sailors was selected to the USA Women's National Baseball team and will be traveling to Venezuela Aug. 12-22 for the 2010 International Baseball Federation (IBAF) World Cup. The 20 player roster was assembled following a four-day trials period at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. Sailors will be playing in the infield and also as a relief pitcher. When asked what it felt like when she learned she was named to the National team, Sailors responded “everyday of practice, all the reps, all the blood, sweat, and tears, finally paid off.” The team will be leaving from its training camp at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina the morning of Aug. 10 to travel to Venezuela. The USA Women’s team will open up group play again Japan on Thursday August 12th at 11:30am PST in Estadio Jose Perez Colmenares located in Maracay, Venuzuela. Also in Group B with the USA Women’s team and Japan will be Cuba, Puerto Rico, and South Korea. In Group A will be Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipai, Hong Kong, Netherlands, and Venezuela. The Finals are scheduled for August 22 in Caracas, Venezuela. |
